Work, work, work, til the job is done.
I shot this photo from the end of our hall a few weeks ago. I'll bet they have added three floors by now. It is amazing how fast the big buildings go up; and they tower so far above the skyline I knew as a kid.

Outsider Art
The window at Yard Dog on South Congress. They sell what one would call 'outsider art' or 'folk art.'

Dodging the Sun
This woman was using an umbrella as she walked along the Zilker cliffs with a child. The sun really makes one want to carry their shade along.

It's the Season of Abandoned Shoes
This one near Jackie's apartment. I'm sure there's a story in all of these although I have trouble imagining them.

Temporary shoe, abandoned
Jackie says these are given to people who get pedicures. She captured this one in its abandoned situ. These shots are never posed on this blog. We have our standards.

Blew Out my Flip Flop
It's pretty easy to see why this one was abandoned. Jackie caught this edition to the long-running abandoned shoes meme.

Green on Green
Jackie shot this interesting mix of plants near her apartment. Living downtown in high rises doesn't mean we don't see lots of things growing.

Pattern on Pattern
We've taken various pictures of this graphic mural on Walter Seaholm Drive. Jackie took this shot, noting that the fig ivy growing over it was threatening the mural but, for now, enhancing the pattern.

Dreams Come True
Long ago some Austin lady musician legends made a wonderful album together. They had a reunion at Antone's last month. Jackie got this great shot and said:
"We had fun at Antone’s for the reunion of “the girls” who made the 1990 “Dreams Come True” album – one of our favorites. Marcia Ball, Lou Ann Barton and Angela Strehli, of course."

Free time, me time
This young lady was having a peaceful few minutes checking out the people rowing by on the lake and contemplating life.

Sunday in the park
I took this photo on a recent Sunday afternoon. These folks were having a good time just hanging out and watching the folks paddle by on Lady Bird Lake.

Young at heart
This is Emma Lou Linn -- She has a PhD, was the second woman in history to serve on the Austin City Council (1975-77), has served as a professor at a local university for forty years, was a farm girl who milked cows and played in corn fields, became a professional basketball player after college and is still an all-round adventure seeker. Eighty years old and still going strong. Today is the first of the month and, thus, theme day at City Daily Photo. Click here for other interpretations of 'young at heart.'
