Dining Selfie

This is a picture of us waiting for our food at Joann's on South Congress. We were walking and I had taken along this little mirror gadget that I put on my wrist so I can see if bikes and scooters are coming up behind us. Its utility is so-so, but it makes for an interesting picture.

Shoal Creek Trail

The Shoal Creek Trail has been redone from Fifth to West. Here's FFP climbing down the steps from Fifth. That's my finger over the lens trying to grab the picture with my phone!

Too narrow

Here's FFP walking on a too narrow part of the near South Lamar sidewalk.

No Sidewalks

The east side of near South Lamar. In parts, there are bad sidewalks. Here, none. That's my husband treading along. He's been nursing an ankle injury and we haven't been walking a lot. I miss it. This was taken in November. I think I'll post more pictures of him walking with me at a respectful distance. (Kidding, I just fall behind while talking pictures.)

Pedestrian friendly, as always.

After the hurricane last month, walking on some downtown sidewalks was a bit of a problem.

I thought that these roses were really nice -- saw them on a recent walk.

Highlights

Emergency? NOT!

I'd like to think these guys had an emergency to justify risking their lives. Doubt it.

Goodbye to 2014

The years go by faster and faster. For the last photo of the year, I though that I would put up a shot of my wife and partner in posting as she walks down an Austin street. We look forward to more adventures, seeking out interesting things to post in 2015 -- and to seeing what all of our fellow City Daily Photo friends have to show and say. All the best to you!

The Wilderness

We walked the Shoal Creek Trail one day from under the Fifth Street Bridge to 31st Street. I was struck by how much it looked like a wilderness north of 29th Street.

Heads up!

This rather unnerving sight met us as we walked along the Shoal Creek trail on a recent morning.

Pack o' Pups

This lady says that the old guy in the carriage can't walk very far any longer, but now that he has two siblings, he likes to get out for a bit.  We met her and her dogs near West Lynn recently.

Strolling Along

These ladies were having a grand time pushing their babies down the Hike and Bike Trail the other day.  Maybe years from now they will remember halcyon days like this one when their kids were so young.

Cold front blowing thorugh

When I left for my morning walk yesterday, it was 70 degrees.  As I was crossing the Pfluger Bridge and heading for home, this front was billowing in from the west.  I'll guarantee the temperature had dropped by ten degrees by the time I got to our building.

Magical thinking

We were walking on the bridge that connects the lakeside trail to West Fifth a couple of days ago and saw this thought someone had painted in two colors.

Greg Louganis

On October 16th, the Austin AIDS walk had Greg Louganis as honorary chair. He (and his cute dog) speak to the crowd before step off.

Walk with me

Linda and I were out for a walk around the lake a few days ago and we were headed back north to our place when I shot this photo. This striking walkway is a new part of the trail system.

Lost and Found

Linda and I went for a long walk around Lady Bird Lake yesterday morning. While still on the north shore, we saw this ad hoc "Lost and Found department" various joggers and walkers had created. The plaque on this stone is about the story behind the naming of Travis County. I also wonder about the story behind each of these items. Two of these sets have both car and house keys. What a hassle!
