Shopping for Boots?

Caught up with this guy on South Congress. There are several boot shops there and vintage stores with boots as well so maybe some of you ask for those for Christmas.

Over Austin

After our friend Jackie researched the biplane she saw flying near her apartment she was determined to ride in this sightseeing vehicle. She shot this amazing picture of the Pennybacker bridge during her tour.

Guarding the Street

We walked down a dead-end street the other day and these two promptly came to the window. One barked vociferously while the other looked out for other interlopers.

Our view is eastward so here's a recent sunrise. As more and more buildings get built our view is a little restricted.

The Family that Suns Together

We took our exercise walk to the University of Texas one day in June and snapped this picture of a turtle family sunning themselves at the Turtle Pond. (Or Memorial Garden.) This little enclave is north of the Tower.

On the Way to Austin

In the hours after the big flood on May 25th, we were flying into Austin. I shot this with my old iPhone out the window. Surreal view.

Texas Flood!

The famous sculpture of Stevie Ray Vaughan was in a muddy pit after the waters receded. Many people took shots of the water all the way up to his boots when the rains were pouring down. I'm sure that a lot of radio stations were playing his song "Texas Flood" during the storm.

My Weather Vane...Soon to Disappear

A building is going up at Fifth and Colorado. People are always asking me about things which block our view or will in the future. I'm most sad about the giant Texas flag that is actually pretty far away in the Texas State Cemetery east of IH35. I like seeing it there and...it tells me which way the wind blows. Since we are only on the tenth floor it doesn't take much height in a nearby building to block something from our view.

The equipment being used to pour concrete at the new building south of us presented an otherworldly sight the other night.

These poppies, planted at Hotel San Jose on South Congress, herald the season.

A nice memory

I see little flowers like this along the footpaths and wonder who they are for.
