Surf and turf

We were walking by a friend's office a few days ago and saw this magnificent stand of shrimp plants blooming in back of their place. I thought it made a nice composition to use their fence in the shot.

Purple!

We attended the Purple Party to benefit the Long Center a couple of weeks ago. Purple is the logo color of the nonprofit performing arts center and that color has been the theme of their parties since the grand opening. (See here and here.) This lady had purple nails for the occasion.

Here's a Farmer's Market photo I shot a few weeks ago.  This enterprising stand owner offers both soaps and veggies.  That goat's milk soap smells wonderful, I might add.

Lone Star Entry

The State of Texas, once the Republic of Texas, has a Lone Star on its flag and it's the Lone Star State. So stars, alone and sometimes in groups, are a frequent iconography around the Capital City. I thought I'd start featuring them once in a while. This one is part of an entryway to the East Side on 11th Street.

South Austin Spirit

This complex cutout mural welcomes folks to a lot with some food trucks. It's pretty far down South First. Is that where South Austin begins? I guess they claim Leslie, Don Walser, Ray Benson, Danny Young, Carolyn Wonderland and W.C. Clark. Musician murals (and images of the late street person cross dresser Leslie) are common in Austin but this one is particularly ambitious.
