That's One High Roof!

This is the Baptist Church on S. Congress across from some of our favorite stores.  I always wonder how in the world they got the metal roof on this structure.  Act of faith, I guess.

Blues on the Green

The big stage for KGSR's Blues on the Green was being set up on the great lawn at Zilker Park the other day.  Austin has a lot of iconic events and this is one of them.

Entrance Level

This important gallery shows museum quality photographic work and is located on West Sixth.  I love the historic feel of the place. We often walk past and sometimes go in to see what is being shown.

A Bench With a View

This couple was taking time to rest and reflect on the north shore of Lady Bird Lake a few days ago.  We are so lucky to have this beautiful lake close to our home downtown.

Digging It!

The Seaholm Project which will include a host of multi-use purposes, including a Trader Joe's, apartments, offices and plenty of retail outlets and restaurants, is finally on the way to becoming reality. I took this photo from the end of our hall today.  The excavation is underway!

The Beauty of Decay

Today is theme day at City Daily Photo. The June 1 theme is 'The Beauty of Decay.' I'm a fan of the sleek and modern but truthfully I love the artistic look of a time-worn patina. What you see here is a work of art in the yard of a house in the Tarrytown section of Austin. (Yeah, not New York. There's a lot of that 'naming after things back east' here in the provinces.) The rusty curved wall has an arrangement of worn driftwood that is, um, reminiscent of the south end of a horse. The curve of the wall was such that you couldn't see on the other side without getting on the property. Of course, one is curious if there is anything on the other side. I'd say this artwork is the artist's interpretation of the beauty of decay, wouldn't you?
