Ready for Lunch

These herons were scoping out the possibility of scoring a nice fish the other day near the boardwalk.

    I am laughing. Not a birder are you. These are cormorants. Divers for fish. In China, they used to put collars on them and let them dive and then retrieve the fish from them.
    (I couldn't resist making this comment. I'm not a hard-core birder myself, and birders can be very very serious about it all.)
