Something a Bit Different

Monday we went to a benefit roast at the Four Seasons for a guy who was having a 75th Birthday, developer Larry Peel. His wife was wearing these shoes. She is a down-to-earth psychiatrist (Dr. Deborah Peel) who has devoted herself to protecting patient privacy. But everyone has to have something a little different, huh? A sparkling smile and sparkling shoes.

Butterfly Bench

This is another example of the decoration currently at the Domain. The butterfly bench seems perfect for posing people for photos, huh?

Jennifer's Show

Saturday night we stopped by an art opening at Wally Workman gallery on West Sixth. Jennifer Balkan has appeared in this space before as part of E.A.S.T. (East Austin Studio Tour). This is the window of the gallery with one of her paintings inside.

Downtown Neighbors

As we have mentioned in this space, there is a new downtown apartment building that is close to the spot where we will one day be living. AMLI on 2nd hosted a fundraiser last night on their pool deck for Planet Cancer, an organization to provide services for young adults with cancer. This shot across the pool deck shows our future home in the background. We duly noted that we will be able to see this deck from our balcony since we could see the balcony from here. The pink theme was well-executed by the party goers.

FFP Contributes Some Style

FFP is usually involved in more important things than blogging, but he did pose in front of this shop window at the Domain Thursday night to show us some style. I didn't notice until later that the sign said: "Petites Now Available." Which seems odd (1) in a shop showing men's shirts (aren't they?); and (2) in a shop at the domain where, I'd assume, all the clothes are skewed toward thin! He does look stylish, though. He's holding my takeout from Jasper's.

Not The Real Thing

I have shown you real peacocks around our club and the other day FFP saw a real armadillo near the club (sadly we didn't have a camera at hand) but this stylized peacock sculpture and the armadillo behind it are at the Domain. Everything there is a little unreal!

By the Numbers

We went to a party for our future home (the 360 Condominiums at 360 Nueces) a couple of weeks ago. Someone was promoting a vodka called 42 below so they made drinks called True 42, 42nd Floor (yes there will be one in the building and no we won't be living on it) and 360tini. Today is the first of the month and it's theme day at City Daily Photo. These sites allege to be participating so accounting for time differences and forgetting go around the world by the numbers:
