We were treated to this light show on the side of a downtown building the other night. This heralds the start of South by Southwest.

We love this restaurant on the east side of town. The food is great and the atmosphere takes us back to when we were first dating.

Sometimes There's a Tangle

These two poodles briefly got entangled in some kites strings when the toddler rushed the dogs. Everyone was extricated without injury.

It's not easy to find a place to launch your kite or strategically place your blanket at the kite fest.

Shark Attack

Downtown buildings appear to be under attack during the kite festival last weekend. This is one of Austin's best. It's free and Zilker fills with lots of adults and kids, picnics, dogs and uncountably many kites.

This display is part of the exhibition at the Ransom Center at UT. A professional photographer perched on an overpass and shot photos of men headed to work, laying in pickup beds.

On a recent windy day, we were treated to this huge scrap of plastic blowing onto our balcony. Not cool.

The View from Here

It's the first of the month so it's Theme Day for City Daily Photo. People around the world who participate in the portal with us will be expressing the theme of 'heimat.' It's German for a feeling of home or belonging apparently. For over seven years we have felt at home when we looked off our balcony here on the tenth floor and saw the skyline. Admittedly, the horizon is shrinking in this view with the building on the far left just being finished and the Westin hotel a recent addition. Still there is a bit of pink sky to tell us that it's another morning in Austin Texas.And we are at home. Click here to see how others interpret the theme.
