Over the Rainbow

This little girl used some of the flags being distributed at the Veterans Day Parade to enhance her fashionable outfit and her rainbow backpack. It's theme day at City Daily Photo. The theme is rainbow. Click here to see how other members responded to the theme.

I loved these stylish stockings at the Terrence McNally party the other night.

"The Dark Is Not So Dark"

That's a quote from our friend Gail Chovan who has a stunning fashion show/art installation that was shown at Women and Their Work Gallery. I love this dress.

Sums it up

A trendy store on Second Street was trying to sum up what Austinites do -- well, there is a lot of truth to this, for some folks. My days of tight pants are over -- except for the waistline.

High Glam, High Energy

Last night we attended a high glam fashion show at The Driskill Hotel given by a friend of ours, Stephen Moser, who is terminally ill.  It was a chance for him to show off his designs, a collection which he has been working on for something like nine years.  Here you see some shoes by another local designer who was also showing his creations on the runway.

Fashion Pumps

At the fashion show at Neiman's the other night I turned my camera briefly down to the feet of the front row spectators. Swinging in time to the driving fashion show music were the heels of some very fashionable ladies.

Accessorize

All the fashion fun at a fashion show isn't on the models. This cool purse accessorized a fun outfit for a friend of ours.

Fashion Night Out

Faithful readers have probably figured out that I'm not very 'fashion forward.' FFP does love shopping and picking clothes, however. And both of us love fashion shows. I can't really say why. Maybe it's the drama or wondering how they make such quick changes. Last night was Fashion's Night Out and The Society Diaries Magazine and Neiman Marcus had a reception and fashion show at the Neiman's at the Domain. FFP shot this as one of the official photographers took a picture of a model in front of one the paintings in the store. (This store is worth a visit if you like modern art. I think most of the paintings are from local artists, too.)

Beach Fashion

Part of a benefit for AIDS Services Austin last night was a Monte Carlo themed fashion show with lots of beachwear as well as formal wear. I was on the second row about thirty feet from the end of the runway and I was testing my new point and shoot Nikon Coolpix S630. It has a 7X zoom and I was assisted by the show lighting so I could use normal auto settings. I was suprised at the clarity and composition of this one. No cropping was done. I really like fashion shows which surprises everyone because I'm not that interested in wearing fashion. Hopefully lots of money was raised with ticket sales, silent auction items, a raffle, etc. for the people living with HIV/AIDS in Austin.

Tribeza Style Week

There was a big fashion show last night at the Long Center under a runway tent. FFP shot this picture of one of the models. It is Tribeza Style Week. Tribeza is a local lifestyle magazine. When we walked home I felt like I should put one foot directly in front of the other. But I was wearning flat shoes, of course!

Hats Off to You

These folks were waiting on a bus at Lamar and Twelfth Streets on Tuesday. And they were doing it with style!

Something a Bit Different

Monday we went to a benefit roast at the Four Seasons for a guy who was having a 75th Birthday, developer Larry Peel. His wife was wearing these shoes. She is a down-to-earth psychiatrist (Dr. Deborah Peel) who has devoted herself to protecting patient privacy. But everyone has to have something a little different, huh? A sparkling smile and sparkling shoes.

What to Wear to a Garden Party

Colorful? Roaring Twenties? Cool brown shoes with blue socks? I didn't get a more current picture so I made a collage from the garden party Friday night. If you enlarge the picture you can check out some details of the sartorial splendor against a background of the Umlauf Garden party. The girl who was carrying the pink purse was missing so our friend Larry displayed it.
