On one of our walks, we saw a bunch of quickly-abandoned bikes in a yard. Here's hoping the kids all belong to a 'pod' and aren't spreading the virus. Tha's all we think about any longer. Sad.

There's a market for everything

Well, I thought I had seen it all. Now you can use an app and pay $2.00 for a Diet Coke, pulled from the back of a bike.

New Shop

A Swatch store didn't make it in this location.  Now electric bikes are having a go at it. On Second Street.

Colorful Bikes

Seems that bicycles have interesting colors in interesting places these days. And they cast some great shadows.

Feel the Wind in Your Gears?

That's what the sign says, but I think these rental bikes don'e have gears!

These bikers were taking a break (and a few pictures) on the Mopac Pedestrian (Roberta Crenshaw) bridge.

An Austin Bicycle

I've been seeing more and more of these fat tire bikes around town. These were for rent on Cesar Chavez. It is theme day at City Daily Photo. The theme is " Let’s See a Bicycle From Your City". Click here for other bikes from other cities.

The Triangle is Strong

Today is theme day for City Daily Photo. The theme is: Triangles. Triangles are a strong shape. That's why you see them on bicycle frames like these for rent on Barton Springs Road. I considered using a picture of the girders of a construction crane or other construction and other triangles I found in logos and such but this seemed most striking. More Bikes

Austin has tons of bike shops. This one on South Congress has an odd name.

Reindeer Games

Just off Rainey Street is the G'Raj Mahal and their property is often used by the Austin Bike Zoo to store there creations. This contraption of a string of reindeer was on display last Sunday.

Ghost Bike

Unfortunately there was a fatal bicycle accident on the Congress Avenue Bridge recently and so there is a new ghost bike memorial. Be careful out there, folks.

Rent and Ride

That's Barton Springs Bikes, by the way. You can rent a nice red one. Noticed bicycles built for two available, too.

Co-op Transportation

This co-op housing in Judge's Hill shows a lot of the official co-op dwellers' transportation: bikes.

Bicycle Racks Needed

Bicycle riders are not always my friends (the ones on the sidewalk and running stop signs and lights when I'm in the crosswalk, for example) but I recognize it as a eco-friendly and efficient way to get around if done properly. Therefore I appeal to the city, property owners, etc. for more bike racks. This mash up was during SXSW and bike parking seemed to be at a premium like everything else. I spend most of my time defending pedestrians as walking is my passion and frequent mode of transportation, but the bike riders need to speak out about parking.

Theme Day---Public Transportation

Triathlon Crowd

There was a triathlon on Labor Day. If you look closely at the crowd on Auditorium Shores you'll see that there is a sea of bike racks.

What Will Grow?

Yesterday, walking in the Bouldin Creek area we came on a planted bicycle. Don't know what to say about it, but there it is.

Ghost Bike

As we've seen before these ghost bikes pop up as memorials to people killed on their bikes. This one is on South First. Here and here are others I've shown you before.
