George Ezra
Jackie shot this picture of George Ezra, a talented singer-songwriter at a December ACL Live show. I love the composition and the smile he has as if he is responding to the audience and their response to him.

Ready for Music
Jackie shot this from the balcony seats at Moody Theater. She says the Mark Knopfler show was amazing in that most of the sold-out crowd were in their seats before the performance began.

Mark Knopfler
Our friend Jackie went to see Mark Knopfler at ACL Live at the Moody Theater last month. She says it was an amazing band with all kinds of instruments including one in this photo that looks quite mystifying.

Band of Heathens
On this Boxing Day I give you Jackie's photo of the Band of Heathens. After holiday excesses it seems appropriate.

Tedeschi Trucks Band
Back in November Jackie got this shot at the Moody Theater. She says:
We saw this great band, a favorite of ours, at ACL Live a couple of years ago. They were here again November 12th, and better than ever. The local Band of Heathens opened for them. A pleasant discovery for us.

Songstress
Our friend Jackie captured this shot of Melissa Etheridge at the Moody Theater this month. She says:
We loved her in her heyday, but hadn’t heard her in years. We think she’s better than ever. She played drums, several different kinds of guitars, and harmonica, while belting out one lusty song after another. Lighting was very conducive to dramatic photography.

There was a fund raiser for the Darryl Royal Alzheimer's Research Fund Wednesday. Next to Willie's statue Bevo greeted people along with his handler. Willie sang at the event inside the Moody Theater.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo at ACL Live
Saturday Jackie saw the Ladysmith Black Mambazo performance at ACL Live and reports:We had seen the male chorus from South Africa before, back in the ‘80s, when Paul Simon’s Graceland brought them global popularity. Their close harmony is magical and they spice it up with Zulu dancing. The group has been singing for 52 years; the founder, Joseph Shaalala is now 70. Last night he introduced his youngest son, Thamsanga, who will take over when Joseph has to retire. (But Joseph seemed quite capable.) They “travel the world spreading the message of peace, love and harmony.” They also sang an exhortation for “rain, rain. rain,” which the local crowd really appreciated.
