Dramatic dance

This was the start of a dance piece in the overall work Illusory Impressions we saw the other night. The lighting was spectacular. The whole thing was staged in a central Austin estate.

Garrison Keillor

We got to meet Garrison Keillor, red shoes and all, after his performance at the Paramount Theatre the other night. Quite a fellow. A very enjoyable man. Always relaxed.

Modern dance in an olden setting

Illusory Impressions was the name of this wonderful dance performance that was held at Jennifer's Gardens here in town the other night. Our friend Michelle, who used to dance with Ballet Austin, created this delightful piece.

The tallest yet

Here you see the Independent Building, looming over the new library. This towering structure will be the tallest residential-only building west of the Mississippi when it is done. We all call it the Jenga Building for obvious reasons.

These ladies were part of the Vet's Day parade the other morning. They had on historically correct outfits.

Flags are always flying

Parades are made for flags and marching. In this group are some from the Confederacy that were kind of controversial this year.

Boycotting!

This man marching with the Girl Scouts in the parade, is for boycotting the NFL. About head injuries?

Veteran's Day Band

This is the Del Valle High Band in the local Vet's Day parade. This big guy is some type of marshal, I suppose.

I can see our house from here!

I was walking home from a meeting the other day and saw this perspective of our condo tower (in the middle with a spike on top). At times, it is still hard to believe that we live downtown.

Flying pigs and others

I like this latest fanciful painting on the big billboard near Third and Congress Ave. in downtown Austin. Very imaginative.

Rubber necking

This giraffe spends all day checking out the traffic on West Sixth. He's a sight to see, that's for sure!

This nice lady will be glad to serve you up some tasty tacos just about any morning, right outside of Nau's -- one of our town's last remaining neighborhood drug stores.

I thought it would be nice to give you a look at our ever-changing view from our condo's balcony What a town we live in.

One of my all-tome favorite dishes at a wonderful restaurant -- Pescado Veracruzano at Fonda San Miguel.

"Much Ado about Nothing" is really something!

A friend of ours produced "Much Ado About Nothing" in a local park the other night and we took some photos-- "Tube be or not tube be?"

Rocking Out -- in the Live Music Capital of the World

Theme Day! I thought that this photo is a good depiction of Austin and its place in the rock universe. An Austin City Limits T-shirt next to a Pink Floyd one with a Bob Marley painting in the background. All surrounded by fashionable clothes and knick-knacks. The name of this store? Austin Rocks. Click here to see how other City Daily Photo participants from around the world interpret this theme.
