A lot of people were assembling for a marathon the other day. It made for quite a sight on the other side of the lake.

Doggie happy hour

The off leash area at Auditorium Shoes was heavily in use a couple of days ago. From the smoke, it looks like one of the dogs is vaping.

Water feature to be burbling soon

On our walk over the Drake Bridge a few weeks ago, we saw this new water feature that will be operating when they finish all the construction on Auditorium Shores. I leaned over and took this shot.

New and improved

The new look at Auditorium Shores is shaping up. This area is where the gazebo used to be.

Turkey trotting

This shot from our balcony shows runners on Riverside Drive, the Drake Bridge and Cesar Chavez, doing their thing on Thanksgiving Day. Lots of people like to run in these races, that's for sure.

Saturday in the Park with Dogs

Lots of people were playing with their dogs on Auditorium Shores on a recent Saturday.  Here you see a group of them, urging their pooches to go fetch balls in the water.

Snow Flake

This lovable Great Pyrenees took part in the Mighty Texas Dog Walk on Saturday morning.  He weighs 165 pounds.  So what else to name him but "Snow Flake"!

Treats on a Tray

This man is the Austin Dog Butler.  Yesterday, he was giving the canines in the Mighty Texas Dog Walk a taste of the service he provides. That cute little white dog in the background looks like he wants at least a dozen treats -- "all different flavors, please."

Capitol 10K

Yesterday was the Capitol 10K. We never got closer to the festivities than this shot from our balcony. It's late in the race and Auditorium Shores is swamped with people who've finished and those on Cesar Chavez look more like walkers to me. Supposedly this race is the biggest 10K in Texas or one of the top five 10Ks in the U.S. I'm a walker myself and I don't do that in large groups. But this is great fun for many. I was reading this week how the land between us and the run will begin to be developed, perhaps starting late this year. I may have to be less lazy about taking a shot of this run in the future.

Poverty is Deadly

On Auditorium Shores there is a small tribute to people who died on the street. Our friend Jackie noticed butterflies in the tree that with the memorial at its base (click picture to enlarge). " I did a little research at the House the Homeless site and deduced that the butterflies represent citizens who have died in poverty in Austin/Travis County.

Stevie Shares the Shores

FFP caught this cow near the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue on August 18 on his morning walk. One day we will have to figure out these wandering cows.

Lone Star 360

Our home viewed from the Lone Star Fountain at Auditorium Shores.

Cow Sports an Austin Symbol

This cow has a depiction of the nightly bat flight from the Congress Avenue Bridge that we experience this time of year. Our Mexican Free Tail Bats eat tons of insects in the warm months when they are with us and having pups to swell their flock which numbers around a million. This cow is one of the herd on Auditorium Shores.

Um, Not PIGskin?

I believe college football has revved up practice for fall and the NFL has agreed to have a season, too. This cow is meant to belie that thing about "the pigskin." It's near the Drake Bridge (South First) on Auditorium Shores.

Psychedelic Cow

A bunch of decorated cows graze near auditorium shores across from Butler Park. Can't remember this one's name but it was a reference to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

Makes you wonder what these Auditorium Shores playmates are talking about, doesn't it?

We were walking across the First Street bridge after the SXSW Strokes concert at Auditorium Shores. This was the trash sorting area.
