A part of 2nd Street west of the old, re-purposed Seaholm Electric Plant has been designated Electric Drive and has places to plug in electric vehicles as well as a solar-powered charging station for bikes and gadgets. See here.

This dog seemed resigned to the Mighty Texas Dog Walk and that costume as long as Mom is carrying her.

An art installation appeared on the north side of the Congress Avenue Bridge. It is by Jennifer Chenowith. It is part of a project explained here.

It was colder than usual on March 2, which is Texas Independence Day -- the Yeti sign pointed that fact out.

Winding down the day at The Grove

Loved going to The Grove for a late afternoon treat the other day. Linda and I enjoy relaxing with words and food.

Princess dog

Lots of people had on cool costumes the other day at the Dog Walk -- this lady and her pup were no exception.

Grilled Prawns -- delish!

These tasty prawns with spaghetti squash were on the menu at Coast, a restaurant in our building the other night. I loved this dish.

KAXAN!

Local celebrity dog KAXAN made an appearance at the big Dog Walk the day -- he's all dressed up for a news show. He really does show up on KXAN, Channel 36, sometimes.

Observing the New Blanton Gallery

The Blanton Museum has reorganized and hung its main collection. These two viewers made a nice tableau when we visited. I love it when the visitors and their clothing and the art and colors in the gallery make a sort of painting together.

This newly renovated home in Old West Austin is lovely, but make sure you are at the right house before you go to the front door!

Where's That Crane?

It's not often that you see the end of a crane rope in front of your condo window. They were using a portable hydraulic crane to assemble the static one for a building just south of us.

Spring is Announced

Jackie caught one of the first redbuds downtown and the Lamar overpass. They are one of the early bloomers and have been going for a couple of weeks.

This appears on the Sputnik restaurant. A kind of pork-specific answer to the famous Jo's coffee shop "I Love You So Much."

This new sign?/sculpture?/playscape? appeared at our Whole Foods recently. One day we saw kids crawling on and inside the letters.

House concert for brunch! Delicious.

We had a fine time at the home of some friends the other day. They hosted a Sunday brunch for a birthday party and had a fantastic jazz band playing.

Some greats of Texas arts were on stage at Bass Concert Hall on a recent night. Scott Pelley, Kenny Rogers, and Kris Kristofferson are among those being honored.

What a bash! And all for the arts!

Black and White

Today is theme day at City Daily Photo as it always is on the first of the month. The theme is "Black and white in color (images that look B+W but are really in color)." Not sure we really achieved it, but we dressed up in black and white and took pictures at a nearby black and white mural. Except for my pink hands and face, there is lots of black and white.
