Two Muranos
A friend here in the building has these two Murano lamps that he is trying to sell and he sent me a photo of them. I wasn't able to find him a buyer. They are pretty, that's for sure

Nicoise Salad
This toothsome delight was really tasty and just filling enough. I ordered it at a local restaurant called Tolouse in the Domain center. I enjoy ordering a Nicoise Salad and seeing the interpretation different restaurants give the dish.

Swordfish swims with flavor.
A new local restaurant called ATX Cocina opened the other day. We were privileged to attend the soft opening and this swordfish dish was served to us. I found it to be very well prepared, with plenty of juiciness and flavor.

22nd Century? In The Domain
Cosmic mushrooms? Not sure what these decorative elements are supposed to be, but they are striking, that's for sure. We went to the local high-end shopping center for a Sunday stroll the other day.

Eggs Bick Benedict (Sorry, you'll have to watch "Giant" to understand.)
I had this delightful variant on Eggs Benedict at Fixe last Sunday. Red Beans and Biscuits with a light Hollandaise. Really tasty. Eggs were perfect.

Sums it up
A trendy store on Second Street was trying to sum up what Austinites do -- well, there is a lot of truth to this, for some folks. My days of tight pants are over -- except for the waistline.

Two pairs of abandoned shoes
This is a first, I think. Two pairs of abandoned shoes in one place. They look like they had some more life in them.

Birthday card
Linda made me this wonderful birthday card and it was waiting for me on my computer keyboard a few days ago.

Reserved for us!
One of our favorite restaurants, Fixe, has that framed photo of us ready to welcome us to our table for my birthday dinner the other night. We love service like that!

A cloudy day in Austin town
What a marvelous skyline in my hometown - it wasn't like this when I was growing up here! These clouds gave the scene a dramatic feel. But I was able to make it home without being rained on.

Keep off the grass
The curators of the Great Lawn are always trying to get one area of grass or another green before the next big festival comes along to trample it down again.

Smooth sailing
These people were having a good time talking to each other as they made their way along in the waters of Lady Bird Lake on a recent morning.

Dishing the dirt
This dog was tuckered out and just hit the dirt by the volleyball space at Zilker Park the other day.

This explains it
Zilker Park gets its due on social media! It's up to us in Austin to post photos of this beautiful greenspace.

(missing you) 100
Maybe my header doesn't make sense -- the deal is, Zilker Park is 100 years old and it is up to us to be the "one" in 100 by putting photos on social media. I will post a closeup of the sign tomorrow.

Tribute to Miguel
Our friend (and everyone else's, too) Miquel Ravago died recently. This portrait by artist Roi James in the restaurant he co-founded (Fonda San Miguel in Austin) is surrounded by candles and flowers in his honor. We will all miss him.

Satellite or ?
This was on the lawn near the Hike and Bike Trail and the Mexican American Cultural Center. That appears to be a solar panel, but I couldn't find a sign defining the purpose of this thing.

Our new senator?
We attended a fundraiser in a West Austin home not long ago for Congressman Beto O'Rourke, who is hoping to unseat one of our US senators. A number of our friends were there.

Veggies for sale!
Summer veggies were looking good at the Farmer's Market the other day. Makes me want to look up a good squash soup recipe.

The Seaholm Story
Yes, the Seaholm is now an office shopping complex. But it used to be a power plant -- the big one for our town. This elaborate sign tells the tale.

Fun for the Fourth
What's more all-American than having a good time playing sports? This game wasn't happening on the Fourth of July, but I thought it would be appropriate to post it today.

Gelato to go
We love the food trailers along Barton Springs Road. You'll find just about anything here -- even Italian ices.

Motorcyclist in motion
At the Republic of Texas motorcycle rally a few years ago, I caught this shot of a rider in motion, about to saddle up on his mechanical steed. This is our entry for "motion" -- the City Daily Photo theme day topic. Click here to see other interpretations from around the world.
