Nice spot to relax
We lucked into getting a personal tour of a new high rise called 70 Rainey Street not long ago. I love this area they have carved out for their residents.

Salmon on kale is swell
Love the salmon at La Traviata on Congress Avenue. They do a great job with it. They have changed the prep -- now it's on kale with heirloom beets.

That's our house!
Hard to believe we have been down here for over 11 years now. The tallest building is where we live.

One of the greats
A few years ago, I wrote a story about this man, Jim Franklin, who is one of the greatest artists Austin has ever known. He is still in town, creating fine work.

Up in lights!
Here we are under the marquee with our name on it! This happened back in June. We like to sponsor movie parties.

Our friend Greg Gregory
The man in the middle of this photo is Col. Greg Gregory, a war hero, a fantastic pilot, and one of the top people at the CIA during his career. That is me on the left in this photo.

Good old Asian Crisp
My favorite salad at The Grove, not far from our place. Hits the spot each time. This round I added tofu. Delicious!

Hysterical marker
A little levity on a plaque posted on a somewhat historic building. Austin still has a sense of humor.

Love this portrait
Back in the good old days, Austin's leading social figures had their shots taken at a downtown studio. This lady, Suzy Snyder, died recently and her daughter posted this portrait. It was her letter to an LBJ aide that sparked the idea for Head Start.

I know that this is just a dealer plate, but . . .
At first, I thought that this license might have some underlying meaning. -- maybe like "I am a 66-year-old rhino." Naaah -- just my overactive imagination.

Tatiana "LadyMay" Mayfield
This woman is a fantastic singer -- she was performing some jazz classics the other night at Parker Jazz Club. Loved her voice.

A new plaque about a historic speech
A new plaque in our central Austin park tells of the time Booker T. Washington came to town in the early 1900s. This is our friend Charles Peveto standing by it.

Black Birds
Scooters have taken over our town. The ones by the company called Bird are Black. They have become the bane of our walking existence both as sidewalk and street litter and moving hazards on sidewalks and crosswalks. Today is theme day at City Daily Photo. The theme is black. See other interpretations here.
