Forrest walks down a lane in the Texas State Cemetery that is flanked with Texas Flags. Lest you think that we don't honor the U.S. of A. there, you will find a U.S. Flag on top of the hill above here.

Still Life with Magnolia Seeds

 

That's a seedpod from a magnolia tree captured on a recent journey in a neighborhood. Magnolias aren't rare in Austin, but live oaks and pecans far exceed them in numbers.

Not a Park

 

This home in Tarrytown has such a park-like setting they felt the need to announce that it is private property.

This cul-de-sac in Tarrytown sports an ivy-covered wall...as a backdrop for a basketball goal.

This colorfully painted elephant is in the yard of a Tarrytown estate.

This old tree has some interesting bark growth. It's a live oak, I believe.

Some graffiti we encounter on our walks is trying to be uplifting.

Color-Coordinated

 

A little house with a bright pink door, a flamingo and a pink Little Free Library.

Dry Stack

 

On our walks, I like to observe the different types of walls and gates. This wall, in Old West Austin, is a great example of a dry stack wall.

Former Graffiti Park

 

Below what is called Castle Hill in West Austin is a former graffiti park on the remnants of a failed condo project. It has closed and it going to be redeveloped.

Entrance

 

This type of walk is popular now around time. Provides a little drama leading up to the home.

9/11

FFP stands outside the 9/11 memorial at the Texas State Cemetery. That is a piece of metal from the tower on the left.

I Wish

This mural at a bar on West Sixth Street is apropos.

Pride of Barbados

The plant to FFP's right, called Pride of Barbados, has been beautiful and long-lasting in Austin this summer.

Molting Season

I suppose this might be considered a form of graffiti. Someone took grackle feathers, plentiful at this time of year when they are molting, and stapled them to a utility pole.

Bats!

The bats under the Congress Avenue (Ann Richards) Bridge aren't practicing social distancing. My friend Mary captured this from her Rainey Street Condo. Her views are fantastic!

Take a Book, Leave a Book

I like to snap pictures of these structures that offer a book exchange to their neighborhoods. This one is in Old West Austin.

Origins of Medicine mural

This mural in the Medical Park Tower and its companion piece across the hall, are slated to be hidden in a remodeling effort by the building management. Strange!

We walked through the state cemetery the other day and saw this gravestone for Denton Cooley-- this pioneer heart surgeon was a legend worldwide.

We decided to walk around East Austin the other day. Here you see Linda going up the hill near the Ebeneezer Baptist Church.
