The latest idea for public art in our town is a herd of fanciful cows. Here you see one who "Loves Moo." Linda and I shot a series of photos of these creatures who are roaming around the downtown area and we'll be putting them up over the next few days.
In and around Dallas there are statues of Pegasus, the flying horse of myth which is also a symbol of the city, painted in various schemes.
ReplyDeleteIs there still one atop a building in downtown Dallas? Mobil Oil?
ReplyDeleteOh...and I remember being in Berlin when there were decorated bears and Baltimore with crabs. Saw cows in London also. Of course, Austin had (and still has some on display) giant guitars, too.
ReplyDeleteYes, there still is a neon-lit, but now non-rotating Pegasus sign atop the Magnolia Petroleum Oil Building in downtown Dallas.
ReplyDeleteI should add, though, that building is now the luxury Magnolia Hotel.
ReplyDeleteTHIS is a great, whimsical piece of public art.. love it!
ReplyDeleteVery cool. It will be fun seeing all that you post.
