Convergence

Where Mopac intersects with the Hike and Bike trail we have the Crenshaw pedestrian bridge (crowded here with foot traffic from the kite festival last month) that spans Lady Bird Lake below the roaring lanes of the highway.

  1. I think more of those people lanes should be built with car and truck traffic bridges and I also think that underground or ground level tunnels should be made for wildlife to cross the highways in safety.

  2. I have seen those wildlife bridges and they are a wonderful idea. Since we live on a river (which is dammed to make Lady Bird Lake here) many of our trips are about how to get across the river. And it is delicate to cross the highways, too, and if you aren't knowledgeable about where it is safe it can mean taking awful chances. Pedestrian bridges like this one were built for recreation but we use them for transportation, too, when we are using our legs to get somewhere.
