Tax Protest

Apparently there were tea parties all over the country to protest big government and big spending. This fellow at the Austin City Hall had a "Don't Tread on Me" flag from the American Revolution. Apparently a number of people don't think we can spend our way out of a depression. It's no accident the protest was scheduled for April 15...the day our taxes are due in the U.S.

  1. I'm thinking most of those people couldn't tell you about the original tea party. Oh, well, if there is protest, we can move forward, I think.

    Thanks for the daily photo.

I hate to be a party pooper, but in the interest of accuracy in historial matters, the original flag read, "Don't Tread on Me." I'm unsure if that what it states in this photo.

  3. A typo for sure. I even made the same typo in the pic label I noticed this morning. Thanks, Jerry.

  4. Typo corrected. I always thought it funny that the flag depicting a snake as the, um, protagonist of the treading!

  5. Aw, I made a typo myself in my comment above. I guess it should be "historical." That's why writers need editors and proofreaders -- we get the idea of what they're writing, but need these guys to keep us from looking silly.

  6. And I didn't see your typo. I like to think I'm a good copy editor, too. Ah, well. It's good there are still some of us left who care. I wish comments could be edited.
