We've mentioned the peacocks who live in Mayfield Park and roam at the end of 35th Street by our club. They've finally given them some warning signs. (I have put up a blowup in the inset.)
Those birds are pretty, but really dumb. They have no concept that strutting out in front of a moving car might get them killed. They also have the endearing habit of seeing their reflection in the shiny surface of a black Mercedes or Lexus and pecking at their perceived companion. I always slow down to a crawl if I see one anywhere close when I am leaving our club.
