Keep Calm

I have seen this stencil graffiti several places. It appears to be Queen Elizabeth II in a gas mask? It reminds me of the 'Keep Calm and Carry On' message recently unearthed from World War II. This was on a pillar for a Mopac ramp at Fifth. Soon it will be covered by a random rectangle of neutral paint. I like the abstract paintings the paint overs make...maybe if they used more colors and shapes...oh, wait. What's art and what's vandalism?

  1. this image seems to be based on Banksy's Queen Gas Mask Stamp, my daughter and I see it all over the place.

  4. It's not Banksy, that piece has nothing to do with him. There are more graffiti artist out here then just one guy everyone knows about. Plus don't always assume that these street artist today get all their inspiration from Banksy. Most of the Austin street artist don't even like him nor OBEY.

  5. Well...a commenter wanted it to be Banksy. Not me. I assume nothing. I just take photos. You've had your say. We'll move on.
