Your blogging crew at Terrence McNally's birthday party

That's us in the middle with our pals Lance and Rob. Having some fun as usual.

Star-struck

Blogger Forrest and Broadway performer Christy Altomare. She is currently starring as Anya in "Anastasia."

John-Boy and Terrence McNally

We attended the 80th birthday party for Terrence McNally at Zach Theatre here in town a few days ago. Here you see actor Richard Thomas who some of you might remember from "The Waltons," with Terrence.

Quite a lineup

Here is a shot I took at the Birthday Party for Terence McNally the other night. Do you see Chita Rivera in the shot next to Terrence? Also Michael Learned and Richard Thomas, who played "John Boy" on The Waltons.

Rockabilly on!

The center stage at the Zach Scott fundraiser had a rockabilly theme on these panels -- Elvis and Johnny Cash.

Big flowers! As in BIG!

Loved the flowers at our table for Red Hot and Soul-- the Zach Scott Theatre fundraiser -- not long ago. Very pretty! A great crowd and nice tablemates.

Professor Harold Hill sings his signature song

This young man did a fine job singing 76 Trombones at the Zach Theatre's big party "Red Hot and Soul" the other night.

Come to the cabaret with Lady Day!

We got to sit onstage with friends on a recent Sunday afternoon during the Zach Theatre production of "Lady Day."

A great table with good friends

We were seated with a group of friends at the recent Zach Theatre fundraiser and I took this pano shot of us all.

Gargoyles are checking the action.

These cute gargoyles are on the Zach Scott Theatre building. It looks like they are watching a play.

Celebrating a summer movie

We were part of an opening crowd at the Zach Scott Theater last Sunday for the premiere of a movie called "Fug Sweater." It was also Maria McDonald's 50th birthday (she produced the movie) and actor Gary Busey's 70th birthday. Gary Busey is the blond-headed guy at the lower right. Lots of cheerful spirit when the lights went up after the movie!

[Note: Today is theme day at Austin Daily Photo. The Theme is 'Celebrating Summer.' See other interpretations here from the City Daily Photo Family.]

Rabbit and ?

We noticed a new sculpture outside the Zach Scott Theatre the other day. It appears to be a giant rabbit embracing a dog? Couldn't find a plaque with title or artist.

Sound Sculpture

On the grounds of the new Zach Scott Theatre is this sculpture. If you get close like FFP is you will hear that there are speakers inside playing some music.

Chair Dancing

My friends Pei San Brown and Michael Smothers were doing some sort of dance last night as the gala multi-event opening of Zach Scott Theatre's Topfer Theatre wound down. Only they were sitting down! This could come in handy as we get older.

Grand Opening at Zach Scott Theatre

As part of Zach Scott Theatre grand opening last night of its new Topfer Theatre there was a gala that included a concert by Bernadette Peters and a thirty piece orchestra. Backstage afterwards D.K. and Mike Reynolds had a moment with the gracious star. (That's Austin's Gary Cooper in the background.) Mike is part of the Kleberg family for whom a stage at Zach's complex is named.
