Sunset reflections

I liked the color of these clouds as the sun set the other day.

Here you see our friend Kenny Williams entertaining with one of his renditions of
a ballad from the Great American Songbook. Parker Jazz Club is the venue.

Time Warp!

We have a drive-in theater on the roof of the parking garage below us. They run this part of Rocky Horror Picture Show sometimes as a lead-in to the feature of the night.

Total stupidity

A roundabout in downtown with a tall bush in the middle. A driver on one side cannot see someone on the other side because of it. Dumb.

They're baaaack!

Scooters are starting to be used again and their riders just throw them down, blocking sidewalks.

Escargot before the entree

We love living around the corner from this nice French restaurant. These are just garlicky enough.

Stacked up!

I just love shooting photos of our new and tallest condo tower. This is the Independent and yes, it is now the tallest residential only building west of the Mississippi.

Old and new

I love these contrasting buildings-- you see a lot of this around downtown Austin.

Destinations

I think that this street art is to warn people the dumping liquids here will lead to pollution of the creek system.

Lunch Bunch

We had a terrific lunch the other day at a new restaurant called Intero. It featured a preview of the play "Sunday in the Park with George." Here we are with two nice lunch-mates.

Big rain's coming!

Eleven years ago, I would have never thought that this would be the view out of our living room window.

Trumpeting on the street

I used to love to cultivate trumpet plants when we had our house and our beautiful yard. But I could never get mine to grow like this.

Scoot out of my way, scooters!

Yes, the plague of scooters has come to Austin. Now we will have to put up with them strewn all over the sidewalks.

Pop-up still up.

This pop-up structure that was erected for SXSW is still around. It was a display area for Independent Film. Very sleek design.

Make 'em want it!

There was s long line at this downtown club the other night. Who knows what is so special about going there?

Your chariot awaits!

This carriage was waiting to take someone on a horse-drawn ride. It was stationed outside the south door of the Driskill Hotel.

Ballet Austin headquarters

That low building in the middle of this photo houses Ballet Austin. What a brilliant move we made buying this property before the mega-boom hit. I have been on its board of directors since 1998.

I can see our house from here!

I was walking home from a meeting the other day and saw this perspective of our condo tower (in the middle with a spike on top). At times, it is still hard to believe that we live downtown.

Flying pigs and others

I like this latest fanciful painting on the big billboard near Third and Congress Ave. in downtown Austin. Very imaginative.

Walled up!

It took some serious work to make this eco-friendly retaining wall on Shoal Creek.
