I thought I'd put a blast from the past up today. I took this shot at a fundraiser for Austin Cabaret Theatre. In the middle here you see Lady Bird Johnson, Lynda Bird Johnson, and Liz Carpenter, who was the First Lady's press secretary. Carol Channing was the entertainment that night.

Another shot from the Banned Books Fest -- commentary on Toni Morrison.
Here you see your erstwhile blog hosts (right) with two friends at the recent Ballet Austin fundraiser. We had a great time and saw lots of our friends.
I took this shot of the final runway parade at the Art Bra fundraiser. These women all have breast cancer -- some are "lifers" in Stage 4 -- they showed a lot of spirit in facing their disease with strength and good humor. We thought that this would be a good photo for this "Spirit" Theme Day. Click here to see other interpretations of this theme from around the world.
Here we are (middle) with two of our good friends, Patrick and Tracy, who went to Art Bra with us. A fun night for a great cause. Breast Cancer Resource Center helps so many women -- and men -- through a difficult time in their lives.
Each year, Linda and I review a stack of poems and stories by local students in the Badgerdog creative writing program sponsored by the Austin Public Library Friends Foundation and pick winners and runners-up for 3-6th graders and 7-12th graders. Here you see your blogger Forrest with three of the winners. The fourth one couldn't make the event. We will show you the two winning poems tomorrow.
Here you see my partner in life and fellow blogger (right) with our former Mayor Will Wynn and his friend at the Ray Benson concert and birthday party.
Our pal Liz Morphis was crooning some songs from the Great American Songbook the other night at a fundraiser for the Shoal Creek Conservancy. It was a fun event.
