Oldie but a goodie

A billboard lamenting the demise of the Armadillo World Headquarters, an Austin institution
and the site of the first date I had with my wife.

Marcia and Bobby Earl

We went to a benefit for a local musician last weekend and saw some great performers.
Here you see Marcia Ball and Bobby Earl Smith doing a rendition of Miller's Cave, an old country song.

A blast from the past

Here's a look at the Armadillo Beer Garden, from around the time Linda and I were dating back in the mid-1970s.

The Way The Dillo Was

This place is the Armadillo World Headquarters --  where Linda and I had our first date on Thanksgiving night, 1975. This concert hall will always have a warm place in my heart. This poster was drawn in 1977 and it hangs in the men's room at a favorite restaurant of ours - Joann's on South Congress. How I miss those bygone days!

This poster from the closing of The Armadillo World Headquarters, the last day of 1980, is on sale for $800. I'll take three!
