This mural on a building on South First depicts a battle between a bird of prey and a rattlesnake I believe. Locked in mortal combat, wouldn't you say? Did anyone listen to the debates?
I have a barn that I would love to have a mural painted on. Perhaps I am the artist and just don't know it yet. Great photo ... I moved from Houston last year and love keeping up with Texas on your blog. Have a good weekend !
Do you think the mural could be a romantic depiction of the State Seal of Mexico? The seal has the bird of prey called CaraCara with a rattlesnake in its grasp. I've seen photos of a CaraCara feeding a rattlesnake to its chicks and some local birders blog about CaraCaras around Austin.

Good catch, Annie. I bet you're right. I'm pretty sure the location was/is a Mexican restaurant.
ReplyDeleteI like the mural! Very powerful image. Though I'd hate to see a battle between them for real.
